  • Yes, Almost all of our clients have some type of cognitive impairment.

    Our program is licensed through Community Care licensing with a special designation for dementia care.

    Our days are designed to keep our participants' minds and bodies active, lessening the symptoms of sun downing and ​hopefully slowing the progression of the dementia.

    We are also on the list of approved day programs with Alzheimer's San Diego.

  • ​No. We are a private pay program.

    Check your long-term insurance as some policies cover respite care.

    A full day is $95 per day.

  • We are open Monday thru Friday 8:30-3:30 pm.

    We are closed some holidays.

    Once we connect and agree that you and your loved one could benefit from our program - We then begin the assessment process.

    Potential clients will begin the process by attending two assessment days.

    Plan for your loved one to spend approximately 3 hours (11am - 2pm) each assessment day at "the Retreat."

    There is a one time, non-refundable assessment charge of $165.

  • Unlike most day programs, "the Retreat" operates from the owner's personal residence.

    The home is warm, inviting and is a comfortable environment.

    Most seniors suffer from the negative effects of Vitamin D which causes lethargy and in extreme cases, cognition problems. The environment and surroundings allows for the majority of our time to be spent outdoors.

    Our program facilitators are all college educated, are CPR trained and most importantly, have a driving passion for the betterment & wellbeing of others.

  • Activities at the Retreat are adapted to meet the needs of our clientele, including those with visual impairment and ambulation limitations. A sampling of these activities are:

    Small group discussions which allows for reminiscing and story-telling.

    Chair exercises, ball toss & games using hand/eye coordination activities.

    Painting, woodwork, arts & crafts.

    Crossword puzzles, word scramble games, cards & more.

  • Yes....and No. We do require a commitment of at least two set days per week.

    Our licensing restricts the number of participants on any given day.

    We are happy to oblige adding a day if we are not at capacity.

  • Many clients have set up Uber accounts to have their loved ones picked up and dropped off.

    We are happy to look into all potential possibilities to get your loved one here safely.​
